IANARA MOTA PINTO
Born in Brazil, Ianara has always been fascinated by art. Her passion for color and light began at an early age, inspired by her mother's paintings of the beautiful landscapes of Minas Gerais and, later, in the long conversations she had with the artist Amilcar de Castro in his studio next to the office where she used to work.
A lawyer, Ianara longed to express her creative side. After moving to Brasilia, at the invitation of a great friend, she enrolled in art classes at Lourenço de Bem's art studio where she was immediately hooked by abstract art on large surfaces.
She moved to Washington DC where she lived for 10 years and took art and photography courses at Corcoran School of Art, where she fell in love with texture, collage and other art techniques.
Ianara has a unique style that continues to evolve. She uses a very diverse color palette, usually very vibrant and bold. Her paintings are inspired by his passion for color, texture, depth and how they interact and collide with light.
Her creative process follows a natural flow, not entirely rational. Her work aims to express creativity and authenticity through colors that she applies using curlers, knives, brushes and even her children's toys in order to add texture, light and drama to her art work.
Currently living in Portugal, Ianara is now getting inspiration from the unique light of Lisbon and the landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula and Europe.
